Rohini Acharya Donated a Kidney to Lalu Yadav- What Happens to the Body After Losing One Kidney?

New Delhi: Rohini donated her kidney to her father, Lalu Prasad Yadav, in Singapore in 2022. At that time she was praised by everyone. Now after the crushing defeat of RJD in the Bihar elections, there is a ruckus in the Lalu family. On November 15-16, Rohini posted emotional posts on social media, announcing her break with the family and alleging that she had to endure humiliation. Even the kidney donated by him was called 'dirty kidney.' Alleged that she did all this for money or tickets. 

Why was she said to have 'dirty kidneys'?

Rohini wrote that Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, who is close to Tejashwi Yadav, abused her. Tried to hit her with slippers and said that you got your father fitted with a dirty kidney by taking crores of rupees or in exchange for a Lok Sabha ticket. Rohini cried and said that she had committed a big crime by leaving her children, husband, and in-laws to save her father. He advised married daughters that if there is a son in their parents' house, they should never give a kidney to the father; that responsibility lies with the sons. BJP also seized the opportunity and said that Lalu did not respect the daughter and gave preference to Tejashwi. Three more sisters (Ragini, Chanda, and Rajlakshmi) also left their Patna home and went to Delhi along with their children. 

What is life like after donating a kidney? 

Doctors say that after donating a kidney, one can live a completely normal life. One kidney increases in size and does the work of both. You can do running, travel, jobs, light exercise, etc. It is just important to be a little careful. Drink lots of water, reduce salt, keep BP-sugar under control, and get a checkup done once a year. The risk is very low in the long term. There may be some fatigue or increase in BP, but it can be controlled with regular monitoring. Research says that kidney donors live healthier and longer lives than ordinary people, because a full body check is done before donation.

Is pregnancy possible after donating a kidney, or does the risk increase?

Women can have normal pregnancies and give birth to children. Yes, the chances of high BP or pre-eclampsia may be slightly higher, but under the supervision of a good doctor (BP, kidney function, baby growth check), everything gets managed. Rohini already has three children, and there was no issue even after donation. Experts say that a healthy diet, rest, and regular checkups can lead to a happy pregnancy like other women.

Will the family disintegrate or be patched up?

This controversy started with the Bihar election defeat, further flared up with the expulsion of Tej Pratap, and is now at its peak with Rohini and her sisters leaving the house.
